Chicago Bulls big man Robin Lopez will reportedly pay for the frustration he demonstrated during Thursday’s 103-92 loss to the Miami Heat.

According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the NBA fined Lopez $25,000 for “verbally abusing officials.”

Lopez was ejected for picking up two technical fouls Thursday, and he yelled and pointed toward officials as he left the court.

Lopez’s frustration was evident as the Bulls dropped to 24-51 with their seventh straight loss. While losses improve Chicago’s draft lottery outlook, Lopez is a veteran who turns 30 years old Sunday and may not factor into the team’s rebuilding plans.

He addressed his ejection after the loss.

“I was emotional. I had a life reaction,” Lopez told reporters. “I felt I was never given the time to cool down. I was making my way towards the bench and I was hit with that second T right away. I was a little caught off guard. … It’s not something I’m particularly ashamed of. I play with passion. If I do something I feel is wrong, I apologize for it. If not, I’ll stand by it.”

This isn’t the first time Lopez has turned heads with an ejection. He yelled at an official and threw a chair following an ejection in February against the Sacramento Kings.

Lopez is averaging a career-best 11.9 points per game this season.
