Star Wars from 1977 is still considered one of the most iconic films ever made. The production created by George Lucas initiated a series that gained huge crowds of fans around the world. However, the director did not have an easy path to success.

It has long been known that the creator had to deal with reluctance towards his “child”. During one meeting with his friends, he decided to take a risk and show them an early version of the film. It must be admitted that he had to show a lot of courage. These friends were Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Brian de Palma and Steven Spielberg.

Lucas, however, was not discouraged and decided to show them Star Wars. Their reaction was certainly painful for him. We learned more details about this case thanks to the Spielberg documentary, which can be watched on HBO Max.

Steven Spielberg: George showed us Star Wars, still with no effects. Black and white war footage edited with blue screen effects and he hoped we would see a movie in it.

George Lucas: It was a kids movie, not something my friends would take seriously. Only Steven accepted it enthusiastically: “It’s going to be a hit.”

During one of the meetings of friends, another heated discussion took place Star Wars. If it weren’t for one argument, the show might have missed one of its most iconic moments. It turns out that Brian de Palma was behind him.

Steven Spielberg: Brian said, “I don’t understand who these people and the hairy guy are, where did they come from? Where is the context, the background?” He jumped at George. George blushed. I think he wanted to kill him. But something wonderful came out of it.

Ultimately, it was Brian de Palma who was responsible for introducing the subtitles that appeared at the very beginning of the film. The same inscriptions that are inextricably linked to virtually all productions taking place in the Star Wars universe.

Finally, we would like to remind you that you can watch all Star Wars films and series on the Disney+ platform.
