In the latest updates, WhatsApp has been dedicated to improving the video calling experience, as they recently added the function that allows you to share the screen during the course of a meeting, however, a new tool has just arrived that millions of users have been asking for for a long time.

As you remember, WhatsApp has created avatars for a long time, these are a graphic representation of you and this is how they will recognize you in the future in the “Metaverse”. For now, you can only send stickers of your digital version, but Meta developed its first filter for video calls based on your avatar.

Simply put, you could say that the avatar “will come to life” because will imitate all your movements and facial expressions in real time during the course of the video callwill undoubtedly give more fun and expression to your virtual meetings.

How to activate the new filter for WhatsApp video calls

  • Before starting, it is necessary to highlight that the function is currently available in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android.
  • To get the beta program, go to the Google Play Store and search for “WhatsApp” > access the app and scroll down.
  • Here you will see the option to become a beta tester. If you can’t find it then click on the next link.
  • Open WhatsApp > make a personal or group video call.
  • Finally, on the screen you have to press the avatar icon and the filter will be activated.

Why you should hide your WhatsApp profile photo

  • The first reason is that everyone will see it. If you have not configured your privacy and your image is seen by strangers, just by adding your number to their cell phone, they will be able to access that information and, as a consequence, take a screenshot.
  • Another detail is that it is better to only share the profile photo with your friends or some contacts with whom you trust. To do this, go to Settings, Privacy, Profile photo and select who you want to share that information with.
  • Additionally, anyone can take a capture photo and share it with anyone. WhatsApp has not yet implemented a way to notify you that someone has screenshotted your stuff.
  • If for some reason it is your work cell phone and you use WhatsApp, it is best that you do not post anything in order to remain neutral.
